From Our Community

An incredibly warm welcome from the team, wonderful explanations & accompaniment, and an otherworldly experience within: unprecedented understandings, feelings and experience comfortably floating in total darkness and touch with the outer world, thank you so very much

Florian

Great opportunity to switch off, unwind and relax. Bonus with all the benefits of magnesium for the body. Took my mind a bit to slow down 😅. Beautiful set up, atmosphere and staff. Well worth a visit if you are looking for some time-out for self.

Carissa S.

Super excited to be part of the team and trial my first ever float this week! loved, loved, loved it! such a relaxing experience and environment. Thinking about having 90 minute lunch breaks everyday 🤭😂

Who's This Perfect For

Pain reduction or elimination

The weightless environment created by floating can help alleviate joint and muscle pain, making it beneficial for individuals experiencing chronic pain or recovering from injuries.

Detoxification

Epsom salt used in the floatation tanks can aid in detoxification by drawing out impurities from the body through the skin.

Anxiety and depression relief

The sensory deprivation and relaxation experienced during floating have shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. The serene environment can promote relaxation, calmness, and mental clarity.

Sleep deprivation recovery

Floating for an hour may provide a similar restorative effect on the body as up to eight hours of deep sleep. It can help individuals recover from sleep deprivation, improve sleep quality, and promote relaxation.

Frequently asked questions

When can’t I float?

We don’t allow people to float if they:

– Are experiencing any symptoms of respiratory disease

– Are currently menstruating

– Have infectious diseases

– Have open wounds or skin ulcers

– Have a perforated ear drum

– Are incontinent

– Have diarrhea and for 3 days following

– Have uncontrolled epilepsy

– Have recently coloured hair. Hair colours leach during floating which can stain our tank..

– Are intoxicated or under the influence of drugs

– Have artificial tanning products that may come off in the water

– Do not shave or wax for a 3 days prior as this can sting freshly aggravated skin/open pores.

Please check with your health practitioner before booking if you are concerned about the following conditions: heart conditions, asthma, kidney or heart disease or sensitivity to magnesium

What do I wear in the tank?

You are in a completely private suite so no clothing or swimwear is required - in fact not recommended.

Will I get claustrophobic in the tank?

This can be a common fear and one that is completely understandable, if you have not floated before. Our floatation pod is very large and extremely roomy fitting a person of over 7 feet. The entire time you are floating you are in complete control. From the moment you enter the pod you can sit firstly, then lay down when comfortable. You can leave the lid fully open, leave slightly ajar and see the salt lamp lit room or you can choose to close it.There is an interior light that you can choose to leave on or turn off from the start or part way through as you feel more comfortable. However you choose to float it is your choice entirely.

Can I get out anytime?

Yes, you are in control and can get out and exit your float session at any time (although the recommended float time is optimum and you are more likely to feel like staying in longer rather than want to get out early).

Filtration and cleaning

Our float pod is tested and balanced daily and we have strict rules for cleanliness and showering thoroughly prior. The float tank contains approximately 500kg magnesium sulphate (Epsom salt) which is a natural antimicrobial and at these concentration levels it is basically impossible for bacteria and pathogens to grow. The system filters the entire volume of the salt water before, after and between each float session to maintain impeccable water quality. The water passes through the 10-micron filter 3-5 times between every person and continually maintained overnight or when not in use. In addition we administer 35% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in combination with UV light treatment. The H2O2 helps break down organic matter so the filters can be even more effective and the UV light kills anything undesirable in the float tank, protecting the water from viruses, moulds, and bacteria. We also disinfect all touch surfaces as well as the internal surfaces of the pods / pool between every client. It would be environmentally-unfriendly, time-ineffective and extremely expensive if we were to dump and replace the water between each person, but as above we maintain OUR water seriously to provide you with safe, clean and perfectly buoyant water.

What do I need to bring?

Bring whatever you comb your hair with and a drink bottle for when you leave as you will probably be thirsty. We provide a full range of Sukin products for before and after your float. We also provide you with fluffy white towels and ear plugs to float and a hairdryer is available only by request as this needs to be used within your allocated session time. As you have a private suite you don’t need a swimsuit - in fact it is not recommended.

Can anybody float?

It doesn’t matter what age, shape or size you are you will float effortlessly. There is no height limit but we do have a weight limit of 120not recommend (in our current pod do be over 120kg.

Is there anything I need to do to prepare to float?

Other than be open to a wonderful experience:– It is best to float on an semi empty stomach but not be hungry (so a light meal 2hrs prior is ideal)– Please ensure you arrive well hydrated but you will toilet before you float– Avoid caffeine in the 5 hrs prior to your float as this is a stimulant – Don’t shave or wax prior to floating (see earlier note)– We provide everything you need for your float except what you comb/brush your hair with– We recommend you remove eye contacts (if applicable) before entering the float pod. Bring own container and solution to facilitate this.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Totally! The water is maintained at approx. 35/36 degrees = relaxed skin temperature. It is a wonderful way to take the weight off your entire body during pregnancy, with the added bonus of boosting your magnesium and sulphate levels which is essential for a healthy human to form. However, if you have some challenges with your pregnancy please consult your health practitioner first to make sure floating is still right for you. We allow mums-to-be to float up to entering their 3rd trimester (24 weeks) (some allow for later however our set up is not suitable for late states of pregnancy)

What type of floatation tank do you have?

Our float pod is a FloatStar floatation Pod. This is a largely designed hatch allowing easy access to every build. To open and close it can be easily managed due to its feather light weight. People up to 7.5 feet (2.30m) tall are comfortable to float. Due to the amount of salt in the water this does make the surface slippery so you do need to be careful when entering and exiting the pod and do need to be physically able to do this unassisted.

What is in the tank?

The float pods and pool contain purified water and Epsom Salts (magnesium sulphate). Magnesium is the second-most abundant element in human cells and the fourth-most important positively charged ion in the body. It helps to regulate the activity of more than 325 enzymes and performs a vital role in orchestrating many bodily functions, from muscle control and electrical impulses to energy production and the elimination of harmful toxins. Sulphate flushes toxins, improves absorption of nutrients, helps form joint and mucin proteins, brain tissue and helps prevent or ease migraine headaches. Basically, we need it and most of us are deficient as the soil is now depleted.

Is everybody successful at floating?

As with all different therapies not everybody will enjoy floating. You need to be open to a very different experience when you float and you may need to float a few times (we recommend at least 3 times) to really start to let go and allow the process of this profound relaxation of your body and mind. All experiences are different, very rarely are two floats the same as each time you float you go deeper into the layers of your being.
